“The Strength of Unity”
An old farmer had four sons. They used to quarrel with one another constantly, each believing they were better than the others. One day the farmer, tired of their bickering, told his sons to bring a bundle of sticks. When they returned with the sticks, he asked the eldest son to break the bundle. Despite his strength, the eldest son struggled and failed to break the sticks tied together. The farmer then untied the bundle and handed a single stick to each son, asking them to break it. Each son easily snapped their stick in half. Smiling wisely, the farmer explained that just like the sticks, they were stronger together than apart. He urged them to work as a team and support one another. From that day forward, the sons understood the value of unity and lived in harmony, helping each other with their tasks on the farm.

Unity is Strength
An old farmer had four sons. They used to quarrel (ঝগড়া করা) with one another. One day, the farmer told his sons to bring a bundle (আঁটি/গুচ্ছ) of sticks. The sons brought the bundle, and the farmer asked the eldest son to break (ভাঙা) it. He tried his best but failed. Then, the second and third sons also tried, but none of them could break the bundle.
The farmer then untied (খুলে দিল) the bundle and gave each son a single stick. He asked them to break the sticks one by one. This time, all of them broke their sticks easily (সহজে). The farmer smiled and said, “When the sticks were together, none of you could break them. But when separated, you broke them without any effort.”
He continued, “The same happens with people. If you stay united (ঐক্যবদ্ধ), no one can harm you. But if you keep fighting (লড়াই করা) and stay divided, anyone can defeat you.” The sons realized (বুঝতে পারা) their mistake and promised to stay united. From that day on, they worked together and lived happily (সুখে).
Moral of the Story: Unity is Strength. If we stay together, we become stronger, but if we remain divided, we become weak.
Completing Story: Unity is strength
Once upon a time, in a small village (গ্রাম), there lived an old farmer (কৃষক) with his four sons. His sons were always quarreling (ঝগড়া করা) with one another over small matters. The farmer was deeply worried (চিন্তিত) about their lack of unity. He wanted to teach them an important lesson (শিক্ষা).
One day, the farmer called his sons and asked them to bring a bundle (আঁটি/গুচ্ছ) of sticks. They brought a strong (শক্তিশালী) bundle. The farmer then gave the bundle to his eldest son and asked him to break (ভাঙা) it. The son tried with all his strength (শক্তি) but failed. Then, the second son tried and also failed. Similarly, the third and fourth sons attempted but could not break the bundle.
The farmer then untied (খুলে দিল) the bundle and handed each son a single (একটি মাত্র) stick. He asked them to break the sticks one by one. This time, all the sons broke their sticks easily (সহজেই). The farmer then said, “See, my sons, when the sticks were together (একসঙ্গে), no one could break them. But when separated, you broke them effortlessly (সহজেই). This is the power of unity (ঐক্য). If you stay united, no one can harm you. But if you keep fighting and remain divided, anyone can easily defeat (পরাজিত করা) you.”
The sons realized (বুঝতে পারা) their mistake and promised to stay united. From that day on, they worked together and lived in harmony (সৌহার্দ্য). Their father was very happy to see his sons united.
Moral of the Story: Unity is Strength. If we stay together, no one can defeat us. But if we remain divided, we become weak and vulnerable.
