Blueberries are very beneficial for health. To promote the idea to others and spread the news, people are now celebrating National Blueberry Day. The month of the Blueberry celebration is July, and the date is the 8th.
The Fruit
Blueberry is a sweet little berry that is naturally blue. And it got the color because of the pigment called anthocyanin. And this anthocyanin is the compound that makes the fruit full of beneficial ingredients for health. North Americans called it to star fruit because of its five-pointed shape. The pointed shape can be found at the blossom end. Only one blueberry bush can produce nearly 6000 blueberries a year.
Types of Blueberries
There are mainly two types of blueberries: lowbush blueberries and highbush blueberries. Lowbush blueberries are also known as wild blueberries and have been available for thousands of years. Farmers could not grow or harvest this kind of berries on the farm. We simply pick and enjoy them from the wild. Highbush blueberries are cultivated on the farm, which is a little larger.
This little fruit blueberry is very sweet to taste. It is full of beneficial ingredients such as nutrients and antioxidants and is also rich in fiber. It can even lower cholesterol, promote a healthy heart, and easily refresh oneself on a dry, hot summer day. When someone eats this juicy fruit full of flavor, it feels like it explodes inside the mouth.
