For the first time, Ruth’s handler introduced the world to his creation, “Barbie.” But Barbie is the short form of the full name Barbara Millicent Roberts. The name Barbie was named after Ruth Handler’s daughter. The national Barbie day is on 9th March. This will be on Wednesday this year. The doll made its debut at the New York City American International Toy Fair.

The very first appearance of Barbie made a considerable number of fans. From one generation to another, Barbie has become a friend to all. Children, both boys and girls, have grown up playing with it. It became an idol and a role model to them, especially for the girl.

History

A German doll, Lily, inspired Ruth Handler to create this doll. After seeing the doll, Lilli, Handler envisioned making a doll that looked like a grown-up woman. The earlier dolls look like children. He took two years to work and finally introduced us to Barbie. All kinds of people started to love it. 

The present shape of Barbie is way more different than the first one. With time the look of Barbie has also evolved. People loved it very much when the doll emerged, but a few months later, they became bored and imagined something new. Then in 1961, Mettle brought Barbie’s boyfriend, Ken. Ken is two years younger than Barbie. Barbie greatly amuses people with hundreds of career options like arts and media, Business, education, medicine, military, politics, public service, science and engineering, sports and athletics, transportation, and others.

In 1962 the company launched barbies own dream house. In 1963 Midge was created as a Barbies friend. Later in 1968, the black doll Christie the first black doll was introduced as Barbie’s best friend. This way, Barbie was followed by various friends and family members and became a family-friendly doll.
