Family and Early Life
Jean was born on March 10, 1948, in Dakar, French, West Africa, now Senegal.
When he was 10, his Catholic grandmother took him on a pilgrimage to Montargis in the Loiret department. When he got to Montargis, he went to Saint-Louis de Montargis, a catholic school. After a few days, a French couple took him in as their child.

Adams started playing with RC Fontainebleau in 1967 as a striker. With that team, he won the Championnat de France amateur twice. In 1970, he signed a deal with Nimes Olympique to play in Ligue for the next nine years. He also played for OGC Nice and Paris Saint-Germain FC during that time.
Adams scored four goals in all 38 games during the 1971–72 season, which helped Nimes finish in second place and win the Cup of the Alps. This was the best finish the team had ever had. In 1973–74, he got his best nine-score, putting him in ninth place.

Jean Pierre Adam’s Injury and Death
After he tore a ligament, he was taken to the Édouard Herriot Hospital in Lyon on March 17, 1982, for surgery. Because many hospital workers were on strike then, his anesthetist and a trainee made mistakes. The trainee later said he was “not up to the task,” and Adams got bronchospasm, which cut off oxygen to his brain and put him into a coma.
When the case was heard in court in the mid-1990s, the anesthetist and the trainee were each given a one-month suspended sentence and an $815 fine. His wife kept taking care of him and refused to think about euthanasia.
Adams died in Nimes, France, on September 6, 2021. He was 73 years old and had been in a coma for 39 years. The next day, a minute of applause was held for him in Lyon before the World Cup qualifier between France and Finland.
