Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University (JKKNIU) is the first and only public University established in Bangladesh that cary the memory of our national poet “Kazi Nazrul Islam” of this country. It is located to a popularly place known as battle (shadow Banyan) in Namapara at Trishal in Mymensingh district &  upazilla. Jatiya Kabi Kazi Nazrul Islam University has been published for undergraduate learners.

JKKNIU was established by the Government of Bangladesh on 1st March 2005, though the initiative for its establishment was taken some years before. Firstly by a non-certified group of socio-cultural local privileged, specifically “Greater Mymensingh Cultural Forum”. The university was initially visualized to be built as the first cultural university in Bangladesh. With a special focus on liberal cum performing arts education and research the JKKNIU Act enacted in 2006 made it a general university.
