Valeri Bure was born on June 13th, 1974 in Moscow, USSR. His parents’ names are Vladimir and Tatiana Bure, and he’s the younger of their two children. Vladimir, an Olympic swimmer from Switzerland, won four medals for the Soviet Union in the 1968, 1972, and 1976 Summer Olympics. As a young child, Bure’s parents divorced.

Valerie Bure Professional Life
Valeri began his ice hockey career continuing in his brother’s footsteps and under the watchful eye of his father. The Montreal Canadians picked him in the second round, 33rd overall, in the 1992 NHL Entry Draft. With Montreal’s American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate team, the Fredericton Canadians (Fred), Valeri spent the majority of his rookie season. Known as the “Smurf line” because they were all less than six feet tall.
Val was moved to the Calgary Flames in February 1998, making him the Flames’ youngest player, at the age of just 50 games.
