Emphasis is placed on performing Salat Awal Waqt:
Allah the Exalted says about Salat or the time of Salat: “Surely Salat has been made obligatory on the believers with specific times.” (Surah An-Nisa, verse – 103).
Importance of tahajjud Prayer:
Allah, the Exalted, commanded His Beloved Prophet Hazrat Muhammad (Sm), may God bless him and grant him peace, to perform the Tahajjud prayer at night. Allah says in the Holy Quran – “1. O Cloth Coverer (Muhammad,) 2. Stand up at night (for prayer), except for some parts.” (Surat al-Muzammal, verses – 1 and 2).
Classification of Namaz: Depending on the importance, Namaz can be classified as follows:
- Faraz Namaz: This prayer is the most important prayer in Islam, of course, it is obligatory, if you do not perform it, it is a sin.
- Wajib Namaz: This Namaz is also obligatory and not performing Wajib Namaz is also sin. If you cannot perform this prayer at the right time, you have to perform this prayer.
- Sunnat Namaz: Introduction of this Namaz as practiced by Prophet Muhammad Rasulullah (Sm), Sunnat Namaz is divided into two categories, namely (1) Muaqqadah and (2) Ghaire Muaqqadah. The first must be paid, otherwise it is considered a sin. If you don’t pay the second, there is no sin if you pay it there is good.
- Nafal Namaz: Nafal Namaz is not obligatory, it is performed in the hope of additional reward, not performing it is not a sin but performing it is rewarded.
What is tahajjud prayer?
Tahajjud prayer is also specially known as Qiyam-u-Lail, although tahajjud prayer is one of the Nafal acts of worship, but it is one of the Nafal acts of worship. If you read it, there is reward, if you don’t read it, there is no sin.
Where the hardship is greater, the amount of gain is also greater, just like the tahajjud prayer has to be performed after waking up late at night, so its rewards and virtues are many times greater. Although many people wish to perform tahajjud prayer, they cannot perform it because they do not know the rules, timing and intention of reciting it.
Tahajjud Namaz Time in Bangladesh:
The best time to perform tahajjud prayer is after midnight, i.e. after two-thirds of the night has passed, the time for tahajjud prayer begins.
The time for tahajjud prayer is from after two o’clock in the night until the time for Fajr prayer begins. The time for tahajjud prayer ends as soon as Sahri time ends, i.e. when Fajr time begins. Many people perform tahajjud prayers after 12 midnight.
If you want to fully attain the status of tahajjud prayer, then sleep at the end of Isha prayer and wake up at 2 or 3 am to perform this prayer. Many people are hesitant about getting up again at night, so they intend to pray tahajjud after the Isha prayer, so that they are not deprived of the reward.
Rules for reciting Tahajjud:
There is no specific surah for Tahajjud prayer. You can perform this prayer by reciting any surah. But if you have memorized a large chapter or verse, it is better to pray with it.
Because Rasulullah (Sm) always used to perform Tahajjud prayer by reciting big Surahs. If the major Surah is not memorized, you can pray by reciting any of the smaller Surahs.
Namaz rules, 2 rakat-2 rakat should be performed. Surah Fatiha should be recited along with any other Surah in every rakat of Namaz. The prayer should be concluded by bowing slowly and steadily.
Rasulullah (Sm). Said, ‘The servant is closest to his Lord in the state of Sijdah. So (in that situation) make dua more and more.’ [Muslim Sharif, Sahih 1/358]
How many rak’ahs in tahajjud prayer?
- Tahajjud prayer is Nafal prayer. Allah Ta’ala says in the Qur’an:
That is, “Establish tahajjud (prayer) in some parts of the night, it is an additional (prayer) for you (obligatory prayer), hopefully your Lord will establish you in a position of praise by its (blessings).” (Surah Bani Israel, verse-79).
- Since tahajjud is a Nafal prayer, you can pray as much as you want, there is no restriction. But our beloved Prophet (Sm) used to pray eight rakats.
For example, in the hadith Sharif:
It was narrated from Aisha (RA), that Rasulullah (Sm) used to pray eleven rakats (eight rakats of tahajjud and three rakats of witr).
- A minimum of two rak’ahs and a maximum of 8 rak’ahs of tahajjud are preferable.
- After performing the 8 rakat tahajjud prayer, perform the 3 rakat Witr prayer. The Prophet (Sm) used to perform the tahajjud prayer mostly in 8 rakats. After that he performed the witr prayer to complete a total of 11 rakats.
