He was then 84 years old and originally from Clarkdale, Georgia, USA, a small cotton mill town twenty miles north of Atlanta. In the 1970s, Stevens was a producer in Nashville and recorded music for Burnaby Records and Warner Bros. from 1970-79. But Stevens’ biggest hit in the US was his gospel-inflected single ‘Everything Is Beautiful’ in 1970. The track later won a Grammy Award and was the theme to a hit TV show in the 1970s.
Then in 1980, he joined RCA Records and released ‘Shriners Convention’ and ‘Night Games’. The following year, he released ‘One Last Chance’.Stevens went on to release a few more singles in 1982.
