The conventional system of depositing challan through the bank by using TR-6 has been canceled. Now, the government has introduced a new code for doing it. This is known as AChallan. It’s best to learn how to deposit your challan using AChallan because it makes the whole process quite simple and easy. What is an Automated Challan System (AChallan)?
Automated Challan System, or AChallan, is a website and application launched by the Finance Division Bangladesh. Here, you can deposit your GoB receipts or challan through your credit cards, mobile banking, or online banking. In short, from your home, within only a matter of minutes.
How to make an account in AChallan
The first and foremost thing to do is register on the iBAS AChallan website. Here is how you can do that:
Go to the website
Go to the iBAS finance.gov.bd link, and you’ll find the option of registering yourself under ACS Client Registration.
Enter the required information
You will need a lot of simple information about yourself for the registration form. Make sure to enter this information correctly and carefully. The required information is:
- Your NID or National ID number
- Date of Birth
- Name in both Bangla and English
- Active mobile number
- Email address as a user ID
- Gender
Set your password
Create a password for your account under the Password option. Then, type the password again under the Confirm Password option. Make sure the password is strong, unpredictable, and is a mix of letters, numbers, and symbols. Don’t select passwords that are easy to guess, like your birthday and phone number.
Solve the Captcha
A simple Captcha test will be given at the end of the form to confirm that you’re not a robot. There will be some distorted letters visible in a photo, and you’ll have to type those letters correctly to solve the test.
Read the terms and conditions
Once you’ve read all the terms and conditions carefully, click on the option that says, “I read and agreed on all terms and conditions.”
Complete the registration
At the bottom of the form, click on ‘Register’. Your registration will be complete, and you will be immediately added to the website.
How to enter your challan without registration
You can still deposit your challan if you don’t want to register for AChallan. When you go to the login page of the website iBAS finance.gov.bd, just scroll to the bottom, and you’ll see a large blue text saying in Bangla: By clicking here, it’s possible to enter challan without registration. Click on that option, then fill up the following information in the form:
Institution Code
Select the code of the institution you’re depositing your challan to. When you click on the option, a drop-down menu appears where every possible institution and their codes are given. Find the required one and click on it to select.
Type of challan
Right after that comes the economic code or name menu. In the drop-down box, you will find options like Travel Tax, Embarkation Fee, Non-residential Rentals, etc. Choose the one you’re looking for.
Select the total amount of money
Next, you have to type the amount of money with respect to the economic code where you are depositing.
Select the institution whose money you’re depositing
You’ll see two options here: one is a general Institution, and the other is a Government Institution. Select the one you’re going for.
- General Institution: First, select whether the institution has TIN, BIN, or neither. If it has TIN or BIN, type the code, and the website will check it for you. If the institution doesn’t have a TIN or BIN, click “Other”. Then, you’ll get some more options, where you’ll have to fill up the name of the institution (in English), the license number, and the address. Finally, you have to fill in some additional info like your NID, address, and phone number.
- Government Institution: This is the same as the previous. You have to select who is depositing the challan and how from the given options: NID, Birth Certificate, TIN, and Others. For all these, you will need to type the corresponding identification number like before. If you select Others, you’ll need the address of the institution.
Select the payment method
The best thing about AChallan is that you don’t have to go to the bank to deposit your challan, you can do it at home via online banking. There are many options given to cater to a wider audience. These are:
- Mobile Banking: Bkash, Rocket, and Nagad are available as mobile banking media and you can choose your preferred one.
- Internet Payment: A list of major banks across the country will appear, and you can choose your preferred one. This includes AB Bank, Agrani Bank, Bangladesh Commerce Bank, Bangladesh Development Bank, Bank Asia, BRAC Bank, Community Bank, Dutch Bangla Bank, Eastern Bank, Islami Bank, Midland Bank, Modhumoti Bank, Mutual Trust Bank, National Bank Limited, NRBC Bank, ONE Bank, Sonali Bank, Prime Bank, Southeast Limited, Premier Bank, and Trust Bank.
- Card Payment: You can pay using both Debit and Credit. Choose from VISA, MasterCard, American Express, or Nexus Pay. Then, select the affiliated bank for the payment.
- OTC: If you do not want to pay online, then you have the option of doing it via the bank counter.
How to use the AChallan App
To make things more convenient, the Finance Division Bangladesh has also launched an app called AChallan. You can find it on both Google Play Store and Apple Store for free installation.
The interface of the platform is very user-friendly, so you can navigate through the options easily.
For example, the home page of the app has a list of everything you can do here, including how to use the app, a news portal, a list of all services offered, required forms, refunds, and contact methods. Helplines are available for those stuck with using the app, too. Just like the website, you can log in to your account or register for the first time.
When you click on Services, you can find a list of the things you may need, like Taxes, Passport, Safety, Travel, Transportation, Medical, etc. When you click on the service you want, you will get a form that you need to fill out step by step as directed. You have the freedom to choose various payment methods like on the website. You can also download a receipt of your payment.
