At the age of 16, Ngetich finished 8th at the 2017 Under-20 Kenya National Cross Country. The same year, She finished 6th at the World Youth Trials, clocking 9:13.0 over 3000m.Ngetich placed fourth in the Under-20 Kenya National Cross-Country in February 2018.Shortly after, She finished another 4th at the Under-20 Africa Cross Country Championships in Algeria, contributing to Kenya’s team gold win. In September 2022, Ngetich finished runner-up to Sheila Chepkirui in the 10 km road race at the Brasov Running Festival in Brasov, Romania. Ngetich did not give up on his quest to break the world record and she returned to training and pushing himself beyond the limits. On January 14, 2024, she set a world record for 10 km in a mixed-gender race. At the 10K Valencia, she improved by 28 seconds on the previous world record set by Yale Marof Ihualao (Ethiopia) in 2022. With the help of a male pacemaker, Ngetich’s final time was 28:46, making her the first woman to run the distance under 29 minutes. After the race, she told the World Athletics: “To be honest, my clear goal was to break the world record but 28:46 is beyond any expectation. I didn’t get scared when I saw 14:13 halfway through, it motivated me a lot to keep pushing till the end.
