United Power Generation and Distribution Company ltd is a private power enterprise, submitted its prospectus to the securities regulator last week with indicative price of Tk 72 including Tk 60 premium for initial public offering under the book-building method.
The BSEC officials said, they would check the proposal of the United Power systematically as that was the first company to come under the notorious book-building method after the SEC had withdrawn the suspension on the process in 2011.
After the 2010-2011 disaster of share market, as a government directive the BSEC, suspended the book-building system in January 2011 till to October 2011. The book-building method was highly carped for permitting floatation of over-priced shares which created simmer in the stock market on late 2010. United Power submitted its information message to the Dhaka Exchange Commission in the first week of March and a road show was held on 17th March for price discovery.

Chief Executive Officer M Shakil Islam Bhuiyan of Lankabangla Investments said that Sixty one qualified institutional investors proposed different analytical prices and 28 EII supported Tk 60 as indicative price. United Power Generation Company Ltd shown Earning per share Tk 10.21 and net asset value Tk 16.30 per share in the audited financial statement for the year ended on 31th December 2012 that was Tk 5.37 in the earlier year 2012. Now United Power EPS Tk. 5.98 & NAV Tk. 23.64 for the year ended on December 31, 2013.

United Power Generation Company Ltd will delegate 3 crore shares during IPO for business expansion and repayment of its debt According to the information message of the company. The Rural Electrification Board and Bangladesh Power Development Board buy 32 percent of the total power generated by the United Power According to the IM. The power purchase agreement with REB and BPDB would end in 2024. The company has a 15 years contract with Oli Knitting Fabrics Limited to supply single 1MW of electricity. The IM has not revealed the selling unit of power the company supplied to the Chittagong Export Processing Zone and Dhaka Export Processing Zone.
